Plan Your Visit
The miniature train with big-league engineering — built for fun, designed with the precision of real railroads.

Easy Access by Car or Train
Getting to the Greenport Express is simple whether you’re driving or riding the rails.

By Car
Set your GPS to Moore’s Lane, Greenport, NY 11944. Once you arrive in the village, follow the signs to the Greenport Express — there’s parking nearby. If you’re coming from New York City or points west, take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) to Exit 73, then follow Route 58 and Route 25 east all the way into Greenport.
By Train
The Long Island Rail Road’s Greenport line brings you right to the end of the line in the heart of Greenport Village. The station is just a short walk from the Greenport Express grounds, making it an easy and scenic way to arrive without a car. Check the LIRR schedule for seasonal service.

Railroad Museum of Long Island – Greenport
The Greenport site of the Railroad Museum of Long Island is more than a caboose and locomotive on display. Inside is an operating HO-scale model railroad that recreates Long Island scenes with working signals and bridges. Exhibits include historic photos, uniforms, timetables, and artifacts that tell the Island’s rail story. Outside, the red caboose and shark-nose locomotive make great family photos, and volunteers are on hand to share insight. It’s hands-on, intimate, and perfect for train lovers of all ages.

East End Seaport Museum
Housed in Greenport’s former railroad station, the East End Seaport Museum connects rail and maritime history. See rare Fresnel lighthouse lenses up close, reshape coastlines on the interactive sand table, and book a seasonal Bug Light Lighthouse tour by boat. Rotating exhibits cover the bay, fishing, and the working waterfront, making this a balanced stop for education and hands-on fun.

Greenport LIRR Station
The easternmost stop on the Long Island Rail Road sits between the Seaport Museum and RMLI. Walk the platform where generations arrived in Greenport and see the tracks end at the harbor. Combined with the two museums, this block forms a unique cluster of living railroad heritage.

Railroad Museum of Long Island – Riverhead
The Riverhead location complements Greenport with larger rolling stock, an operating turntable, and restoration projects. Kids can see how volunteers bring historic engines back to life and explore model railroads in action. A great pairing with the Greenport site for a full rail-themed day.

Mitchell Park Carousel – Greenport
This antique carousel by Herschell-Spillman ties directly to the Greenport Express story through the company’s acquisition of the Miniature Train Company. Hand-carved horses, a harbor view, and an enclosed pavilion make it a year-round favorite. Affordable tickets and the classic brass-ring game add to the charm.
